Attorney at Law. Bachelor of Law, Universidad Católica de Chile; Master of Law (LLM) from the “Litigation & Alternative Methods” School of Law of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico. Postgraduate Course in “Fundamental Problems of the General Part of Criminal Law” from the Universidad de Salamanca, Spain (2003). Completed the Criminal Litigation Course given by the United States Attorney’s Office in Washington DC, January (2000) and the Criminal Litigation Course given by the University of California Western School of Law.
He has been a professor for several Diploma Programs and Visiting Professor in multiple universities in United States, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, México, and has been guest lecturer at many universities. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Chilean Chapter of Transparency International, member of the Steering Committee of the Judicial Systems Journal of the Justice Studies Center of the Americas (CEJA-OAS).
He was Coordinator and Trainer in the Support to the Criminal Procedure Reform of Mexico project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Chile; Consultant of the World Bank; co-creator of organizational and personnel aspects of the criminal justice system modernization projects in Chile; former Head of the Legal Division of the Ministry of Justice of Chile, former National Coordinator of the process of implementation and establishment of the criminal justice system in Chile and former Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Alberto Hurtado University of Chile.
He has published manuals, books and articles about litigation, public defense, criminal law, public policies, and restorative justice.
